Carey Scurry, born in the Mecca of Basketball, Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, is a former American professional basketball player who played for Long Island University and in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a forward for three seasons for the Utah Jazz and New York Knicks. He played against players like Michael Jordan and with other greats, his Hall of Fame teammates Karl Malone and John Stockton where his Alley Oops were legendary. After his NBA career, Scurry went on to play basketball in Greece, Spain, and Brazil. In January 2006, he was named to the Northeast Conference 25th Anniversary Men's Basketball Team. Today, Scurry is the founder and Executive Director of A Hoopster’s Journey, a nonprofit supporting education and athletics for inner-city youth.
