Welcome to our latest revision of Act Right. Our industry is changing rapidly, and we want to keep you abreast of the times.
Technology has changed our world since we first published Act Right. In the short span of three years, the Internet has become a factor in our business. We remember a world – not long ago – when there were no such words as “info-tainment,”“fax on demand” and “download from our website.” So we want to point out how these devices have changed our particular industry. Perhaps most importantly, we ourselves are learning and growing, so we want to pass along our new perspectives and insights to you.
This book is designed to help you behave correctly from day one of your career as a professional actor. Our book focuses on technical and professional information. The title of our book – Act Right – has other implications aside from doing what is technically correct from an acting point of view. We use the term advisedly, and in fact often talked about our own commitments to “act right” long before we developed our book and seminar. When we talk about “acting right,” we also want to share an awareness that right behavior in all aspects of your life cannot help but affect your career as well.
To “act right” is fundamentally to do what is morally correct, to make the ethical choice and show it in action. This underlies all we do, all we say in this book, and is the foundation of what we are sharing.
